Finally admitted to myself I should probs get off my arse and start doing my bags... given the day after tomorrow I *leave* and all that. It's very hard, trying to cram all of my stuff into so little space, especially because I didn't realise I *had* so much stuff! I don't even want to have a lot of stuff! It just happened!

I've got my suitcase down to about 18 kgs, with another 8ish in by hand luggage. Miracle, right! I think deciding to leave a lot of the books behind helped with that. Also a lot of clothes. I'm not sure what I will wear in NZ, given I have one (1) pair of jeans, two (2) light hoodies and no (0) heavy ones. Argh. But on the other hand, sacrificing my warm hoodie means bringing my history text book.

... I have the feeling not a lot of other people would make that choice.

And Andrea just stuck up a nice picture of us from when I was in Perugia, so here you are:

I flattened a small child in Venice yesterday. Still feel rather guilty.

It wasn't really my fault - I turned around suddenly and then just bam! screaming toddler on the ground - but her mother gave me a look like I'd come at her with a chainsaw or something. Oops.

Just got my Dreamwidth code today, so I'm working on setting up my journal to function reasonably well and all. Everything being so similar to LJ is gunna bug me out for a while, but it certainly has its advantages, ie I know how to use it (it took me about two months to get used to Facebook).

Given most of my friends are on LJ and not inclined to move, not being in fandom, I'm a bit out in the dark, hence my random adding flails (hey, you look interesting! *add*). But hey, I was the first of my mates to move to LJ and that worked out alright.

In terms of who I am etc, I'm Clare, from New Zealand. At the moment, I'm eight months into an AFS exchange year in Italy, which is pretty damn hardcore. I'm a feminist, I'm bisexual, I'm pretty lefty when it comes to most everything. I'll probably be studying Pol Sci and Women's Studies at uni next year, so I'm very much interested in those fields of thought. However, I've still got a bunch to learn and if I screw up once in a while, try to bear with me and I'll do my best not to repeat the mistake.

I'm bookish, and I love talking about books, movies, music, TV (although to a lesser extent, given I never get the chance to watch TV what with 3 siblings and a stone age net connection) and writing. Every so often I might post writing up here; we'll see how it goes.

Anyway, enough rambling for now. Time to start working on getting this place prettied up!
